Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we do! While we are an out-of-network provider, our team takes care of the entire process for you — we submit claims directly to your insurance and handle all the necessary paperwork. We do our best to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible for families.
How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?
We take care of that for you! During the intake process, our team completes an out-of-network benefits check (EOB verification) with your insurance provider. This helps you understand what your coverage includes and what your potential costs may be for ABA therapy.
If your plan does not include out-of-network benefits, we may still be able to work with your insurance through a single case agreement (SCA) to help make services more accessible.
Isn’t it expensive to see an out-of-network provider?
Not necessarily — it really depends on your specific insurance plan. Many of the families we serve have plans that cover most or even all of the cost of services.
Unfortunately, we can’t determine your exact coverage until claims are submitted, but our team is dedicated to guiding families through every step of the process.
Why should I go out-of-network if I can stay in network?
Choosing between an in-network and out-of-network provider is a personal decision, but it’s important to know that the quality of ABA therapy can vary greatly between providers. After working to be in-network, we found it difficult to maintain the high standards of care and consistency we want for our learners.
By remaining out-of-network, Sweet Bloom ABA can invest in our team, prevent high staff turnover, and ensure each child receives consistent, individualized care. We intentionally serve a limited number of families so we can focus on meaningful progress and provide the quality, compassionate support every child deserves.
Why are you out-of-network?
We’ve chosen to stay out-of-network so we can focus fully on quality — not quantity. This allows our team to provide personalized, boutique-level care and to tailor every program to each child’s unique needs, without the limitations that often come with in-network restrictions.
What sets Sweet Bloom ABA apart from other providers?
At Sweet Bloom ABA, we’re a family-centered practice that believes quality care begins with genuine connection.
We maintain smaller caseloads so each child receives the individualized attention and structured support they need. Because ABA is a therapeutic service, our environment is designed to promote purposeful, compassionate care that meets every child’s unique goals with consistency and respect.
We also prioritize staff well-being and continuity, ensuring your child is supported by a stable, dedicated team that truly knows them. Through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, we work closely with speech, occupational, and physical therapists to support your child’s whole development — nurturing progress that lasts.
What does “individualized programs” mean in ABA therapy?
At Sweet Bloom ABA, individualized ABA therapy means every child receives a treatment plan created just for them — never one-size-fits-all. True individualization begins with getting to know your child on a deeper level: their strengths, interests, communication style, and how they learn best.
We understand that communication isn’t only verbal. Just because a child may not yet speak or respond with words doesn’t mean they can’t communicate. Our goal is to help each child find their voice — whether that’s through gestures, sign language, text, or a communication device.
We also tailor how we communicate with your child, just as we tailor how we teach. One of our guiding philosophies comes from Dr. Ivar Lovaas, who said, “If they can’t learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn.” That belief guides everything we do — meeting each child where they are, and helping them grow in the way that feels most natural to them.
How many learners do you accept at a time?
Our Full-Day Program accepts up to 8 children, and our Afterschool Program also accepts up to 8 children. This allows us to maintain a calm, supportive environment where every child can thrive.
What is the age range you serve?
While each program has its own focus, we generally work with children between the ages of 2 and 10 years old.
Where do you offer services?
All of our services are provided at our Midland Park, NJ center—a welcoming, child-friendly environment designed to foster learning, play, and growth. Our spacious 5,200-square-foot facility offers children plenty of room to explore, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive setting.
Who works with my child?
That depends on the service. In our ABA Therapy Program, your child works one-on-one with a Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
What will my child work on during ABA therapy sessions?
While every program is tailored to each child’s unique needs, our goal is to help children communicate, socialize, and navigate the world with greater confidence and less stress. Many of our learners work on goals related to communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behavior reduction.
Each program is carefully designed and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to ensure that therapy remains meaningful, consistent, and focused on real progress.
My child can’t yet speak. Do families have access to cameras to monitor their child and make sure they’re okay?
We completely understand how difficult it can feel to send your child to therapy when they’re not yet able to communicate verbally—your concern is completely valid.
While we’re unable to provide access to video footage (to protect the privacy of other children in our care), we make every effort to help families feel comfortable and confident. Parents are welcome to accompany their child during sessions as often as needed until they feel at ease entrusting their child with us. Our center features individual treatment rooms designed for private sessions and parent observations, allowing families to stay close and connected during the early stages of care.
We also encourage parents to observe sessions regularly—whether weekly or more often—to remain informed, involved, and confident in their child’s ongoing progress.
How can I track my child’s progress?
We believe in full transparency and parent collaboration. Families receive access to our secure clinical management software, where you can view session notes, progress graphs, and program updates. Every six months, you’ll receive a comprehensive treatment plan and assessment report detailing your child’s growth. Parents are also encouraged to observe sessions and learn strategies to continue progress at home.
Can I schedule a tour? Can I visit while other children are receiving treatment?
Yes! Families are always welcome to schedule a tour of our center to meet our team and learn more about our programs.
To protect the privacy and dignity of the children we serve, tours are scheduled outside of therapy hours. While we understand families may wish to observe sessions, our clients’ therapy time is private and confidential — and we’re committed to maintaining a respectful environment for every child.
While we understand families may wish to see therapy in action, it’s important to remember that these are private therapy sessions — and even though our clients are young, we are committed to maintaining a respectful and confidential environment for every child.
Can my child receive ABA therapy for just a short period, like a few months or during the summer?
It depends on your child’s individual needs. While short-term support can be helpful, ABA therapy is most effective over time—especially for younger children. Most of our early learners participate in therapy for 2–3 years before transitioning out of the program.
